Murray River Mouth

River Country Spirit Ceremony

Dance the Spirit of River and Country, make the rivers flow again, and heal the Rivers, Lakes, wetlands and Coorong.

Next year's ceremonies will begin on Saturday the 16th of April, 2011, at Meningie in South Australia and continue for a week or so to end at the top of the Darling River at Murra Murra (ie. going up river).

The 2010 Ringbalin was a powerful way of restoring the health of Murrundi (all waterways within the Murray-Darling Basin), and of indigenous and all other communities.

From the opening ceremony, which was at Murra Murra in Kooma Nation at the top of the Darling River, the ceremonies worked their way down the river to the Coorong, the traditional home country of the Ngarrindjeri people at the Murray mouth.

Key organisers of the Ringbalin were Major Sumner (Ngarrindjeri elder from the Coorong- Kurangk) and Lynton Vonow.  Clicking on their names will take you to contact details.

We look forward to seeing you in 2011!
